Ublock addon

-Also unlike desktop Ublock origin, you cant use addon via the same page, you have to switch back and forth between ublock's own window and the site itself. -Sometimes Ublock addon doesnt even load. Can't use chrome and ublock on mobile (not ublock's fault, chrome doesnt allow addons on mobile, but still annoying).

The cost isn't just bandwidth, but also:- infrastructure (memory, CPU, disks...): all of which must deal with the huge amounts of data they manage (500+ hours of video uploaded every minute).- personnel cost (developers, SREs...) (almost) all of whom have substantial salaries that support the gigantic scale (1 billion+ hours of content viewed every day) They spent extraordinary amounts of money to capture the market and drive competitors out of business. It's called predatory pricing and it should be punished, not rewarded. Pay money to a surveillance capitalism company to segment yourself into the "has disposable income and is willing to spend it" category of the market, driving the value of your attention even higher! In addition to better adblockers, I also learned how to use them better. For example, to update ublock origin's filter lists (which I now do every few days), click the ublock chrome addon icon (top right) -> cog icon -> 'update'.I also never knew there were sites that give you exactly the same youtube videos, but without ads (and improved privacy). One such site is called 'invidious'. I made a very basic chrome addon that places the invidious link right next to the actual (youtube) link, so now if youtube blocks me, it's only ctrl + click to watch the same video ad-free. Ad-nauseum is open source and based on Unlock Origin. It works on both Firefox and Chrome, but not available in the Chrome store so it has to be installed as an unpacked extension.uBlock Origin - Microsoft Edge Addons
#21 Probably tweaking Norton You don't need ZAL + VS...About extensiones, 2 adblockers (even disabling one of them)... I'll remove uBlock Origin =) Again, I was only using uBlock Origin on demand to test against AdGuard - sorry for any misunderstanding about that. I would disable AdGuard and enable uBlock Origin However, I get your point about that. I have the same feelings I think as @Lightning_Brian with AdGuard and uBlock Origin. Really like them both.AdGuard is fine out of the box and using on a family PC.uBlock gets really powerful when tinkering with the advanced settings, good on a personal PC but not for a family PC. @Gandalf_The_Grey Both of the adblockers are nice. uBlock can get quite powerful. AdGuard within the advance settings can get or be just as powerful too. Therefore, I'll stop my random tests of uBlock. Hopefully, folks understood that I wasn't using both at the same time. LOL! Does it allow customizing rules per protocol/port/IP and such or is it just allow/block like in the free version? @TairikuOkami Sure does! the ELITE does everything that the free does, but even more options. Feel free to ask the developer to see if you can get a free trial to BASIC, Pro, or ELITE. #22 That Coffee Lake system is magnificent. Sometimes, you can see a bit more "concern" about security with a higher-end system like that. #23 That Coffee Lake system is magnificent. Yeah RAM cost a ton of money, but I got it on a good deal from a trusted seller - little under $600 in RAM alone with the RAM costing much more (far above) $600 for normal pricing. With everything in my rig. I got about $3,000 ish to protect, but well worth it! I use a ton of RAM when I go virtualization networks, working on VMs eats up a lot of CPU and RAM LOL - mainly RAM in my case! Now to decide if I want to put VoodooShield Premium (paid - latest release) into a as needed field... HMMM@JM Security Bud, do you have any suggestions on my real time setup? Think I should make VoodooShield Premium (paid - latest release) into a as needed field... ZAL and Norton combined are really amazing.Everyone - feel free to let me know your thoughts!Note:Removed uBlock Origin as folks didn't see that I was testing uBlock Origin against AdGuard. - All good though!Removed Norton Safe Search - supposed to be a good addon for Noton users & or just about anyone, but folks think I have too much stuff. =)I'll be adding auBlock Origin - Microsoft Edge Addons

2025-04-14It’s been a while since I have looked at the Free version and the little tweaks to make it work well. What are people’s take now on the Browser Addon (specifically for the free version). The concensus was that it was of no benefit if you are on free (as well as no real use to keep the free VPN and the free Password manager due to restriction on the free offering). I don’t use the safe money or vitrual keyboard either. I have other tools that cover that. I also use ABP for adverts (or Ublock Origin) so am covered for that too. I was looking at the blurb about the plugin and it mentions: - Private Browsing – informs you about attempts by websites to collect your data and allows you to block collection.- Kaspersky URL Advisor – marks search results with colored indicators according to the link’s security level.- Anti-Banner – blocks advertising banners on websites.- Dangerous Content Blocking - prevents a website from loading if it is deemed a dangerous or phishing website by Kaspersky.I think that the dangerous website blocking works without the addon and private browsing / antibanner is covered by the adblockers I already useOpinions gratefully received. Thanks guysPaul
2025-04-22Is minimal. However, the adblocker is complicated to use by comparison with many of its competitors. Also, while the adblocker reduces the frequency of ads and reduces pre-roll, users will still have to wait for about three to ten ads worth of reloads.uBlock is a free and open-source browser add-on that supports more browsers than many competitors. The plugin is available for Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Pale Moon, Chromium, and Safari (versions before 13).uBlock Origin is very popular, reliable and widely used, in part due to it being less memory-intensive. The extension is rated 5 stars and has been downloaded by more than 10,000,000 users. uBlock Origin provides a list of features including a mode to help users with vision deficiency, logging functionality, a unique URL filtering feature, interface enhancements such as privacy-oriented options and a DOM inspector used to block hyperlink auditing, link prefetching, and IP address leaks through WebRTC. These features make for excellent ad-blocking performance.5. Purple Ad-blockPurple Ad-block is another popular Twitch ad blocker, provided by Purple Block. The addon is a powerful and effective application that blocks ads by using external proxies in ad-free countries, allowing only video requests sent through these proxies. The plugin removes interruptive ads, which in turn increases battery efficiency, keeps advertisers from tracking users and reduces bandwidth. Purple Ad-block also doesn’t stores private user data. One major downside of Purple Ad-block is that it is only functional on the official Twitch website, and not on alternative websites.Purple AdBlock is free and compatible with Firefox
