Like the previous entries, there is a supernatural element to the character as Chucky is not just some malformed doll, but in fact a murderer who inhabits the doll using some voodoo ritual. The murderer is Charles Lee Ray who is a notorious serial killer known as the Lakeshore Strangler. The doll he inhabits is a popular children’s doll called Good Guy. What's your favorite scary movie?No, I'm not doing a Ghostface impression—I genuinely want to know. For me, all my favorite horror and haunts come in the slasher film variety. Movies like Scream, Freaky, Happy Death Day, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Psycho are incredible looks at deep characters and exciting situations. They also have perfect logic that helps extend a bridge to an audience that might not traditionally love horror. I can tell you that the most fun I have ever had writing a screenplay was when I attempted to write a slasher movie. I was super proud of it, even though the COVID pandemic killed our shooting plan and sent the script back to development hell. Yes, the same person who gave TBS its annual Christmas Eve marathon fodder was also responsible for the first major cinematic application of the phrase “The calls are coming from inside the house!” Black Christmas, which was insipidly remade in 2006, predates John Carpenter’s Halloween by four years and features many of the same elements, especially visually. Like Halloween, it lingers heavily on POV shots from the killer’s eyes as he prowls through a dimly lit sorority house and spies on his future victims. As the mentally deranged killer calls the house and engages in obscene phone calls with the female residents, one can’t help but also be reminded of the scene in Carpenter’s film where Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) calls her friend Lynda, only to hear her strangled with the telephone cord. Black Christmas is also instrumental, and practically archetypal, in solidifying the slasher legend of the so-called “final girl.” Jessica Bradford (Olivia Hussey) is actually among the better-realized of these final girls in the history of the genre, a remarkably strong and resourceful young woman who can take care of herself in both her relationships and deadly scenarios. It’s questionable how many subsequent slashers have been able to create protagonists who are such a believable combination of capable and realistic.

However, the Stasis modules went under a catastrophic transformation which ended up reversing the effect of Stasis, making these Necromorphs faster than any other Necromorph. The result of this reverse-Stasis effect makes them impossibly fast, making them extremely hard to kill. They are called Twitchers due to their spastic motions, and they are always moving. They move at speeds that are almost impossible to follow which results in their movements and actions looking like a blur or nonexistant. Twitchers can very easily jump out of the way of attacks, which makes them that much harder to kill. They only form from corpses with Stasis, however, they do not always become Twitchers for some reason.VariantsThere are only three variants of the Twitcher.Enhanced TwitcherAlso known as Oracle Twitchers, they are only encountered twice, but this is at the same time.Marine TwitcherMarine Twitchers are the most common variant of Twitchers and are encountered by anyone who boarded or was on board the USM Valor during the time of the Necromorph attack. However, there were no Necromorphs aboard the Valor until they retrieved the Escape Pod from the Ishimura, which Hammond stuck a live Slasher in. They appear in the Marine uniform they wore as humans, but with the helmet busted and their grotesque face showing. After departing the Valor, they boarded the Ishimura and spread across the ship, making it even harder to escape or to survive.Titan Station Security Enforcement Guard TwitcherThese are Twitchers that are formed from the Titan Station Security members aboard the Sprawl.TriviaThe reason for the Twitchers becoming Enhanced is unknown, but could likely be a more advanced, or evolved, form of the Enhancement process.Isaac does not encounter any Twitchers, which is very odd considering almost, if not all, the Security Guards had Stasis modules in their suits. However, this could be because the matrix or design of the Stasis module was modified since the USG Ishimura and USM Valor infestations.The only way to reduce a Twitcher to normal speed is to place it under Stasis.
